Lights of Love
by: Jacqueline Brown
Can you see our candles
Burning in the night?
Lights of love we send you
Rays of purest white.

Children we remember
Though missing from our sight
In honor and remembrance
We light candles in the night

All across the big blue marble
Spinning out in space
Can you see the candles burning
From this human place?

Oh, angels gone before us
Who taught us perfect love
This night the world lights candles
That you may see them from above

Tonight the glove is lit by love
Of those who know great sorrow,
But as we remember our yesterday's
Let's light one candle for tomorrow

We will not forget,
And every year in deep December
On Earth we will light candles
As...we remember
Every year on the second Sunday in December at 7 PM local time, the
Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting is held for all caring people
to take the moment together and remember the children who have passed
from any cause, at any age, regardless of cultural, ethnic, religious or political
boundaries.  There are hundreds of memorial services around the globe and
thousands of observances in the home with family and friends.

The United States Senate has joined the Worldwide Candle Lighting
remembrance by passing resolutions declaring the second Sunday of
December of each year National Children's Memorial Day.

This year, Kevin's family participated at the ceremony at Children's Hospital of
Philadelphia.  It was extremely moving as each child's name is announced and
their family and friends lifts up high above their heads, a candle in memory of
their loved one.  There were songs performed and a reading of a beautiful
poem called "Lights of Love" by Jacqueline Brown.  Below is a copy of the
poem.
